Motorcycle accident victims are protected by the legal process. In a nearby Massachusetts community an hour west of the Worcester area, a motorcyclist was recently critically injured. The motorcycle accident caused the accident victim to be thrown a distance from his motorcycle and he eventually came to rest on the post of a stop sign. The motorcycle accident victim was taken to a local hospital with reportedly life-threatening injuries.

The motorcycle accident victim was thrown from his motorcycle when a motor vehicle made a left-hand turn in front of him. Authorities reported that the initial investigation of the motorcycle accident indicates the motorcycle was travelling northbound when a southbound car turned left in front of the motorcycle, cutting him off. The motorcycle accident remains under investigation.

In two-thirds of motorcycle accidents, the driver of a motor vehicle is responsible for the accident by violating the motorcycle’s right of way and causing the accident. Whenever a motorcyclist has been injured by a negligent driver, the motorcycle accident victim may be able to bring a claim for damages. Motorcycle accident victims may be able to receive compensation for damages including medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering damages. Additional damages may also be available depending on the circumstances such as in situations when families have lost a loved one in a fatal motorcycle accident.

Victims of motorcycle accidents should always be aware of the legal options available to protect them. When a motorcycle accident unexpectedly occurs, familiarity with options to help them focus on recovery from a motorcycle injury is important.
