Truck accidents can be frightening which is why victims of truck accidents are protected by the legal system. A semi-truck accident about an hour south of Worcester recently killed a young child and injured three others, including a 9-year old girl. According to witnesses, the driver of the passenger vehicle slowed with other traffic for an accident in the shoulder, however, the semi truck behind the passenger vehicle did not slow. The tractor trailer hit the passenger vehicle and struck two other vehicles. All three suffered serious injuries; the 25-year old mother of the 3-year old boy who was killed was awake but obviously distraught. The woman’s young daughter and a 26-year old male passenger in the vehicle were both in intensive care.
Four vehicles were involved in the semi-truck accident, including the tractor trailer driven by a 58-year old Massachusetts’ man. Occupants of the other two vehicles were taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries that were described as non-life threatening. According to authorities, the accident investigation continues. Multi-vehicle accidents, especially those involving semi trucks, can lead to disastrous consequences.
When unsuspecting motorists have suffered harm in a trucking accident because of the actions of a negligent truck driver, different options for relief may be available. When a truck driver is operating a vehicle in a negligent manner, such as in violation of federal trucking regulations or as an unqualified truck driver, inattentive truck driver, speeding truck driver or truck driver experiencing the affects of truck driver fatigue, truck accident victims and their families may be able to recover damages for harm suffered. In addition, depending on the nature of the relationship, the truck company may also be responsible for the truck driver’s negligence and liable to the victims for damages.
Victims of truck accidents can face serious injuries and harm which can lead to extensive recoveries that may be both physically and emotionally painful. In addition, recoveries can be financially taxing which is why different options exist to help truck accident victims with the harm suffered.
