Fatal accidents can lead to far-reaching consequences for many people.

Nearby, a boating accident recently claimed the life of a 23-year old man. The young man fell off a boat and was struck on the head by a propeller. Authorities originally released the name of another local man as the name of the victim, however, authorities have since corrected that, releasing the name of the 23-year old man instead. Authorities stated that the first man named is part of the investigation but did not offer further details. The fatal accident investigation is ongoing.

A variety of circumstances can lead to a boating accident and sometimes the consequences can be fatal. In circumstances when another person is responsible for causing the fatal boating accident, those dealing with the loss of a loved one may be able to bring a wrongful death cause of action against the liable party. Another party’s negligence could be to blame in the accident, for example, if the driver of the boat was boating under the influence and that driver’s actions led to the fatal accident.

A wrongful death cause of action allows family members of a lost loved on to bring a lawsuit for the death of their loved one that should never have occurred had it not been for the negligence of another party. Many situations can lead to a wrongful death claim and family members should be aware that they might be able to recover damages for the loss of a loved one. Grieving family members may not believe that they are able to consider such an option, but a trained legal professional can help guide them through the process of such a claim.

The unexpected loss of a loved one can be difficult to endure. Because the loss can be even more overwhelming when another person is responsible for it, the legal system protects the families of victims in the ways that it can.
